Telus says the proposed deal would be reduce competition and give Bell unprecedented market power.

Vancouver-based Telus says the purchase of Astral (TSX:ACM) could give Bell a 49.5 per cent share of the English-language television audience.

Telus says the deal would limit choice for Canadians and raise costs for consumers.

Telus is supporting a coalition comprised of Quebecor (TSX:QBR.B), Cogeco (TSX:CGO) and Eastlink and has filed a submission against the acquisition to the CRTC.
