The Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women Ottawa (BPW Ottawa) is hosting its next monthly meeting on Nov. 8, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 131 Queen St. (the House of Commons).  Our meeting will feature guest speaker the Honourable Joyce Murray, Member of Parliament, on women in politics to be followed by a group discussion.   Wine and cheese will be served and a fee of $10 will be charged to non-BPW members, $5 for students.  This event is open to the public, but we would appreciate a RSVP to info@bpwottawa.com in order to provide security with a list of names for those who plan to attend.   Joyce Murray was first elected as Vancouver Quadra’s voice in Parliament in 2008 and is a fierce advocate for the key issues of environment and climate change; building a stronger, greener economy with emphasis on job creation and support for small businesses; human rights and women’s rights; education with a focus on financial support for college and university students; health and home care; and preventative health.

Joyce is the Liberal critic for Small Business and Tourism, the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Western Economic Diversification and was former vice-chair on the Committee of Status of Women.

BPW is a non-partisan, non-sectarian organization that develops the professional and leadership potential of women in Canada through education, awareness, advocacy and mentoring within a supportive network.  Founded in 1930, we are part of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, with clubs in more than 90 countries around the world. Our International Federation has Category I Consultative Status at the United Nations, and our goal is the improvement of economic, political, social and employment conditions for women in Canada.
