BPW Ottawa monthly meeting

  • Place : 131 Queen St. (the House of Commons)
  • Time : 17:30
  • Details :

Every February, members of BPW worldwide come together to recognize the global contribution to the development of professional women and the extensive international presence of the organization. BPW was officially established 82 years ago with the mandate to improve the social, political and economic conditions of women worldwide. Today BPW has members in 90 countries.

The evening will commence with refreshments and networking at 5:30pm, followed by some words from our guest speaker Senator Salma Ataullahjan. Senator Ataullahjan is a strong advocate for women's educational rights, and is an executive of the Toronto chapter of the Citizens Foundation, a charity organization that builds not-for-profit schools in the poorest districts of Pakistan. She recently returned from London on a visit to Malala Yousafzai, student and educational activist who was recovering in hospital from a near fatal attack by extremists.

After a question and answer period, we will be hosting representatives from countries where BPW has a presence in a traditional BPW candle lighting ceremony.

On behalf of the executive, we hope that you will attend. As usual, we will need to submit your name to the building security desk so please remember to RSVP to info@bpwottawa.com no later than Friday February 1st. You will receive details regarding location together with confirmation of receipt of your rsvp.

Refreshments will be served and a fee of $10 will be charged to non BPW members, $5 for students. This event is open to the public.
