The Canadian Federation of Business and Professional Women Ottawa (BPW Ottawa) is hosting its next monthly meeting on Thursday, March 14th at 6:00p.m. Nicole Turmel will be speaking on workplace bullying and harassment, as well as on her personal experiences as a female Parliamentarian in a leadership role. Ms. Turmel was appointed interim leader of the NPW in 2011 when Jack Layton passed away, and now sits as the Opposition Whip in the House of Commons. From 1979 to 2006, she held different Union positions at the local, regional and national levels. Upon retiring, she was National President of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, the first women to ever hold that position.
BPW is a non-partisan, non-sectarian organization that develops the professional and leadership potential of women in Canada through education, awareness, advocacy and mentoring within a supportive network. Founded in 1930, we are part of the International Federation of Business and Professional Women, with clubs in more than 90 countries around the world. Our International Federation has Category I Consultative Status at the United Nations, and our goal is the improvement of economic, political, social and employment conditions for women in Canada.
