Drive Value. Achieve Velocity. Be Virtual.

BMB Data ensures your mission-critical projects yield results, not red ink

According to an article published in the September 2011 issue of the Harvard Business Review, IT projects suffer an average cost overrun of 27 per cent, with one in six over budget by more than 200 per cent.

This kind of negative impact on an organization isn’t limited to budget and certainly not confined to IT projects. Two-thirds of projects overall, from enterprise software implementations to marketing initiatives and new office openings, fail in some way to meet their objectives.

“Too many projects are over budget, take too long to implement or fail to provide expected value,” said Carl Drodge, President and CEO of BMB Data Consulting Services. “In the current economy, addressing this kind of misspend is critical.”

BMB Data is launching MyVPMO, a next-generation “Solution-and-a-Service” platform that provides the strategic insight that management teams need to ensure initiatives, of any size, are on track, on budget, on time and provide true strategic value at every stage of their lifecycle. For six years BMB Data has specialized in helping small businesses, large enterprises and government organizations accelerate business performance with a range of data warehousing, business intelligence and project and portfolio management solutions.

The software - MyVPMO
MyVPMO is built on the proven project and portfolio management platform from enterprise cloud vendor Innotas, which has been recognized as an industry visionary by market research firm Gartner. BMB Data has customized this platform with its own management framework, PMO2™ (Portfolio Management - Opportunities to Outcomes), which saves clients months of effort typically involved with the setup and implementation of project and portfolio management software products.

The Framework - PMO2™
“The PMO2™ Framework and its unique strategic view enabled Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada to develop a powerful IM/ IT Portfolio Management Framework (PMF),” said Tim Eryou, Chief Information Officer. “The PMF provides the means for engaging senior management in investment decisions. The PMF is also a critical enabler to the oversight of project execution related to Information Management and Information Technology solutions.”

MyVPMO goes beyond simple project environments to provide organizations with a virtual project management office that combines a custom-fit, cloud-based platform with a flexible range of consulting services. Users don’t have to worry about maintaining infrastructure on the premises. They only have to pay for what they need, as they need it.

“We understand the pain that many organizations go through when they purchase a project management product and that is the main reason we have pre-configured a solution for them – right out-of-the-cloud,” said Phil Dana, Vice- President of Marketing. “Our clients don’t have to learn how to configure MyVPMO, only how to use it, saving countless hours and reducing complexity and frustration.”

With MyVPMO, front line project managers and senior executives alike have a clear and concise “value gating” process that promotes communication and takes an initiative from cradle to grave in five stages – Opportunity, Proposal, Project, Solution, Outcome. “At each stage of our framework, clients must stop, step back and consider whether the initiative is still providing enough value to move to the next stage.” said Drodge. “We help them understand which questions they should ask and why.”

The service – Virtual Project Managers (VPMs)
In addition to the MyVPMO software solution, BMB Data provides consulting services via its global network of project and portfolio trained consultants to use the MyVPMO and the PMO2 framework with clients of any size in a wide range of industries, market verticals and geographies.

“Our VPM network model helps clients overcome the challenge of finding competent and cost-effective project management support,” said Dana.

BMB Data is currently looking for project managers that it can employ on a full or part-time basis.
