The deal was signed with Dymon Power Corp., part of the Dymon Group of Companies that operates a local self-storage chain and owns retirement residences in the Glebe and Civic Hospital neighbourhoods.
Once completed, Dymon says its properties will generate 2.7 megawatts of power, enough to generate enough electricity for 1,000 homes.
The company will sell the power to the Ontario government under the province’s feed-in tariff program, which guarantees producers of renewable power generous premiums for their electricity.
Toronto-based Ontario Solar Provider Inc. will develop, procure, design, install and finance the project for Dymon.
No financial terms were disclosed.
Separately, global solar development company Enfinity said this week that construction is underway on its massive project in East Hawkesbury, east of Ottawa.
Company officials previously said the 240-acre Stardale project is expected to generate $15-million worth of power annually.
Enfinity purchased the Ottawa startup that laid the groundwork for Stardale, Solaris Energy Partners, last April.
