The group's long-time president, Catherine Swift, is being succeeded by Dan Kelly – another veteran of the group.
He has been with the federation for the past 18 years – originally in the Prairie region and more recently at CFIB's national headquarters in Ottawa.
The federation represents more than 100,000 businesses in all parts of the country and all sectors of the economy.
Swift has been held the top jobs at the CFIB since the mid-1990s.
She has become a well-known advocate for small and mid-sized Canadian businesses, lobbying the government on their behalf.
Swift will remain with the group as chair of its board.
