Société Gamma wins $500K translation deal

Société Gamma Inc., which has provided English and French translations for more than a generation, received one of three awarded contracts from the federal government for translation services.

The $508,620 deal is for services on an as-needed-and-requested basis for the Canadian Intellectual Property Office, according to documents on procurement site Merx.

Société Gamma advertises 38 years of experience and nearly 70 translation professionals on its website. It is a subsidiary of United Kingdom-based Ubiqus Group (a meeting and document service firm) and as of 2011 listed annual sales of $7 million.

Work for the CIPO translation need was divided into three different streams, according to the number of words required. Open Text Corp., which has a presence in Ottawa, was the recipient of two related contracts for $1.7 million and $722,232.
