Both Shred-it and Super Shred have headquarters in the Greater Toronto Area, but have local operations.

Super Shred will continue to keep independent operations in Toronto, and will become Shred-it’s third branch in the region. While Shred-it said the acquisition will affect all Super Shred locations, the specific impact on Super Shred’s Ottawa operations and employees was not disclosed in a press release.

“This acquisition supports our corporate growth strategy, and will significantly enhance our presence and density in key Canadian markets including the GTA, Cambridge and Ottawa,” stated Shred-it CEO Vince De Palma.

He added that more purchases may be on the horizon, noting, “acquisitions will continue to play an important role in Shred-it's strategic plans.”

Shred-it stated that the two companies have compatible cultures that both focus on destroying documents on-site, with an emphasis on preserving the privacy of customer information.

This is Shred-it’s 18th acquisition in the past two years, the firm stated. Shred-it is owned by Securit, an Oakville-based records management, data security and document destruction company.
