The work is “on and as and when requested basis” using a task authorization between Sept. 1, 2012 and Aug. 31, 2016 for Public Works, according to federal records.
The federal department is seeking to let go of some of its 20 major engineering assets across the country, which includes seven bridges, four dam complexes and nine “specialized assets” such as an 835-kilometre section of the Alaska Highway.
Public Works awarded several contracts to study the best use for managing these assets. Some options could be doing public-private partnerships or transferring them to other levels of government.
The other recipients for the work were PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP ($1.5 million), KPMG LLP ($2 million) and Morrison Hershfield Ltd. ($300,000).
