Ottawa Ford dealers sold 8,237 new vehicles last year, an increase of 9.88 per cent over 2011. The performance was largely driven by truck sales, which grew from 5,318 in 2011 to 6,004 last year. Car sales climbed from 2,178 to 2,233 in the same period.

For the first 11 months of 2012, Ford said it had a local market share of 12.6 per cent, compared to 13.5 per cent a year earlier.

Nationally, the automaker’s market share climbed to 16.9 per cent from 17.4 per cent.

Earlier this month, Ford claimed the title of Canada’s top-selling automaker for the third year in a row.
