An Ottawa accounting firm is opening a new office across the Ottawa River to accommodate growing demand for its business in Quebec, company officials say.

Collins Barrow Ottawa has been expanding on the Quebec side for the past several years to the point where it now has around 200 clients, said Sylvain Campeau, a partner at Collins Barrow Gatineau.

“As much as we’ve been able to grow over there, we felt that our location was a bit of an impediment to that growth being even bigger,” said Mr. Campeau. “We just wanted to get a little closer to our clients.”

The firm has three accountants at the new branch. Several accountants go back-and-forth between there and the Ottawa office, said Mr. Campeau.

Collins Barrow is the eighth largest accounting firm in Ottawa, according to data compiled last August. It employed 86 accountants at that time.
