BDO, a national accounting and advisory company, will acquire Interis’s team of 50 professionals to help lead BDO’s Ottawa-based government services practice.
Interis staff will join BDO’s existing assurance, accounting, tax and advisory practice in Ottawa, bringing its local head count to more than 100 partners and professionals.
Recently awarded with an Employees Choice Award, Interis also has offices in Montreal, Toronto and Edmonton. The merger with BDO will allow Interis to access the 106 locations across the country operated by its parent company.
“We are excited to join BDO and gain the value of its support to our practice,” stated Interis managing partner Denis Godcharles in a company release. “By combining our strengths, we will continue to achieve national growth and reach a larger platform to benefit new and existing clients.”
The local company will continue to serve its customers as it begins integration into BDO, the company stated.
Financial details were not disclosed.
BDO said it will gain Interis’s experience with public-sector clients, as well as its specialization in the financial services sector.
BDO Canada is a member of BDO International Ltd., a United Kingdom company that oversees an international network of independent member firms.
The combined income of all BDO member firms was just over $6 billion in 2012, according to the company. The global network includes 1,204 offices in 138 countries.
