The federal government’s National Research Council is looking for a contractor to upgrade the electrical systems at its Montreal Road campus.
The contractor will be required to build two medium voltage electrical sub-stations, expand an existing sub-station and perform major revisions to the loop cable feeder system.
While bidding on the project doesn’t close until Oct. 31, prospective contractors are required to visit the site in advance. The first site visit was held on Sept 25. Another will held on Oct. 1 at 9 a.m.
Work would have to be “substantially complete” by the end of August 2014, according to the project’s general instructions.
Bidders must also provide proof of successful completion of a similar project within the past three years.
According to the project’s description the work will include the “provision of new transformers, switchgear, buried concrete ductbanks and extensive cabling.”
No cost estimates or budget range were provided in the invitation to tender.
