International Trade Minister Ed Fast announced that Canada's expanded free trade agreement with Chile is now in force.
Tuesday, Oct. 1:
Mr. Fast launched the Canada-United Arab Emirates Business Council (CUBC), with its first meeting taking place in Montréal. He also announced the Canadian members of the Council: Gordon Nixon, Murad Al-Katib, David Barette, Jeffrey Blidner, Michael Smith, Jeffrey Steiner and Ken Seitz.
Wednesday, Oct. 2:
Minister of State (science and technology) Greg Rickford addressed a conference organized by the Economic Club of Canada in Ottawa, reaffirming the government's support for clean technologies as a means of fostering both environmental sustainability and economic prosperity.
Thursday, Oct. 3:
National Revenue Minister Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay announced the appointment of Richard Thorpe as chair of the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) board of management for a four-year term.
Finance Minister Jim Flaherty announced the appointment of Kathleen Taylor to the board of directors of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).
Mr. Fast announced that he will be attending the 21st APEC ministerial, Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and CEO summit meetings being held in Indonesia from Oct. 3 to 6.
Friday, Oct. 4:
Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced the appointment of Federal Court of Appeal Justice Marc Nadon to the Supreme Court of Canada.
