Mr. Firestone, who has held the role for nine years, will continue teaching at the University of Ottawa and working as a real estate broker for Century 21 Explorer Realty, according to a press release issued by Exploriem.
His replacement will be Larry Poirier, who has sat on the Exploriem board since 2011. Mr. Poirier is currently the chief strategic officer of bluArc Technologies and CEO of LW Capital Pool.
Mr. Poirier was a founder of Nitrosoft, which became N-able Technologies and was sold to Solar Winds in July for $120 million. He also founded Nitro IT, which TUC Brands acquired in March 2012.
“We are astoundingly fortunate to have Larry Poirier come on board as the new executive director,” said Todd Jamieson, one of the founders of Exploriem and president of Envision Online, in the release.
“He has done it all - from bootstrapping a business to selling multiple businesses - he truly has lived the entrepreneurial dream. We are looking forward to reaping the rewards of having such a qualified leader who is passionate about supporting local entrepreneurs.”
