The Greater Nepean Chamber of Commerce approved a proposed merger with the West Ottawa Board of Trade at its annual general meeting Tuesday night.

Gavin Leishman (centre), shown with Mayor Jim Watson (left) and Gloucester South-Nepean Coun. Steve Desroches, is past chair of the Nepean Chamber of Commerce.

One week after West Ottawa Board of Trade members voted 97 per cent in support of the proposal, Nepean chamber members also showed massive support for the plan, voting 91 per cent in favour.

The move will create one group with 600 members, giving it a stronger voice when dealing with all three levels of government in the region, according to Gavin Leishman, past chair of the Nepean Chamber.
