City looking for nominees for 2014 Ottawa Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards

To recognize the success and contributions of local immigrant entrepreneurs, the city is now accepting nominees for the 2014 Ottawa Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards.

In a statement released Monday, the city says it is looking for nominees who have achieved their entrepreneurial success after immigrating here, and who make a positive contribution to the city’s economy and community in a number of ways ranging from hiring, sourcing and purchasing locally to mentoring other entrepreneurs.

The judges will be a panel of community and business leaders who will review all submissions before selecting winners, who will be announced at a special event planned for later in the year.

This is the third year for the awards. Past winners include Julia Chen of Advanced Machines and Materials, Ysabel Li-Lopez of Nurture-Elle, and Manu Sharma of OAK Computing.

A submission form can be found on the city’s website. The deadline for nominations is Sept. 30.
