Big Rig Brewery is already well established in the local brewing scene, but they really stepped it up over the past year.

Big Rig wants to host parties in its Kanata brewery in 2016.

Most of Ottawa has enjoyed the grub and beers at one of their brewpubs, either at the original Iris Street location or the newer Gloucester Centre spot. As you may be aware, there is a third location in Kanata that functions as a taproom and larger industrial brew space.

You’re invited to come out and get to know this spiffy location better, as the brewery at 103 Schneider Road will be ramping up its usage in 2016 and bringing in a variety of activities to enhance the animation of this fermentation space.

To kick things off, a new Taproom Series has been announced that will bring together a delightful pairing of music and craft beer. The inaugural concert, presented in conjunction with Ottawa Showbox, has been announced for Jan 30. and will feature local indie folk rock band, Amos the Transparent. Tickets for the event are now available through universe.com. Your $15 ticket includes a brewery tour, one drink ticket and the intimate music experience. Be on the lookout as more concert events in this series are planned. Most importantly for the beer explorers out there, one-offs, seasonals and brews not available at the LCBO will be available at the Taproom.

Beyond the concert series, numerous other events are planned for 2016. Through Inner Revolution Yoga Studio, yoga sessions will be hosted amongst the tanks. In addition to this, the brewery is running more tours and has made space available for hosting events. I could think of worse venues for a professional development session (*looks hopefully at boss*).

If you are out at the brewery for any of the above events, keep an eye open for Brewmaster Lon Laddel. Lon is celebrating his twentieth year in the brewing industry, so wish him a happy anniversary! If you’re a traditionalist, that’s the fine China anniversary.
