Councillors on the City of Ottawa’s planning committee are set to consider an application for a mixed use development close to Scott Street in Westboro.
BridgePort Realty wants to construct a building at 319 McRae Ave. that would consist of places for people to work, shop and live, according to a staff report on the subject.
The development would have one component that is eight storeys and another that is seven. The northern mid-rise would feature about 130 units over six floors while the southern mid-rise would have five floors of commercial office development
The first two storeys of the building will be a podium that will feature retail stores and restaurants.
The application is part of a larger vision – dubbed the Westboro Collection – to construct a variety of buildings in the area that would include residential, commercial and office space, according to planning documents filed with the city.
The city staff report on the subject says the proposal meets with the city’s guidelines and should be approved.
The city’s planning committee, which decides which buildings can be built where in the city, is scheduled to consider the motion at a meeting on Tuesday. If they give it the go-ahead, it would then go to a full meeting of city council for final approval.
