DEW Engineering & Development ULC, which is based on Hawthorne Road, won the $39.43-million contract, according to a notice publishing on the online contracting site Merx, and followed a solicitation of interest and qualification that pre-screened four firms to submit bids: DEW, fellow Canadian firm Armatec Survivability Corp., U.S.-based Gichner Shelter Systems and Marshall Specialist Vehicles Ltd. out of the U.K.

The contract is related to the Department of National Defence’s efforts to replace its medium logistic vehicle wheeled fleet and some of its related systems.

The specific focus is on what the military terms “special equipment vehicle kitting” to outfit between approximately 800 and 910 baseline shelters.

This particular component involves providing specific functionality, such as command posts, maintenance workshops, kitchens, movement and stowage of logistical stores and medical facilities, according to information published on Merx.
