Construction manager Govan Brown Inc. received a $426,071 deal from Public Works to do a mock-up of the 10th floor of the East Tower. The type of contract was not disclosed in documents on Merx, a procurement site commonly used by the federal government. Work must be completed within 14 weeks of the award, the documents state.
Taiwan's central weather bureau has ordered 100 accelerographs from Nanometrics Inc., with the option to purchase more. Financial details were not disclosed. The sensors will be used to upgrade Taiwan's network of stations that monitor earthquakes in the Asian country.
Market research firm EKOS received a $349,510 professional services contract from Health Canada to evaluate the effectiveness of national tobacco quitlines as well as the implementation of the quitline toll-free number. In solicitation documents on Merx, Health Canada stated it is prepared to award up to three contracts for this project, each worth no more $400,000.
The Lowe-Martin Group, a printing firm, will assist in producing materials to promote an upcoming mission to the International Space Station. The company received a $217,322 deal (the contract type was not disclosed) from the Canadian Space Agency to produce educators' kits including materials such as posters, DVDs and guidebooks. The educators' kits will talk about astronaut Chris Hadfield's flight to space in December to command the station's crew. Lowe-Martin acquired Dollco in April.
