SolPowered Energy Corp. has appointed Elizabeth McDonald as senior adviser for corporate development. Ms. McDonald is currently on the board of the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association and is the former president of the Canadian Solar Industries Association and served as chair of the Ontario government’s solar task force.

Hubert “Bert” Whyte will join the board of directors of Edgewater Wireless Systems Inc. Mr. Whyte brings 30 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry, including executive roles with Network Equipment Technologies, Advanced Computer Communications, Natural Convergence, Solace Systems and Meriton Networks.

Netcelerate appointed Ron Blair as chief financial officer. Mr. Blair has experience with several Ottawa and Montreal-based high technology firms.  

The Real Estate Institute of Canada and the Ottawa chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management has elected a new board of directors, consisting of Franco S. Falbo, REIC chapter president and IREM council chair, Denis M. Archambault, REIC chapter president-elect and IREM council vice-chair, Frederick J. Colford, secretary/treasurer, Stan Humphreys, director, and Clayton Fitzsimmons, past-president and director.

Mazorro Resources Inc. has appointed Leo Cote to its board of directors. Mr. Cote is a professional engineer with more than 35 years’ experience in the mining industry.

 

HATS OFF

Purple Forge and the American Petroleum Institute were honoured with two “Pollies” at the annual American Association of Political Consultants awards for the mobile applications they developed for advocacy of the petroleum industry.

Hydro Ottawa was recognized with the Electricity Distributors Association’s Customer Service Excellence Award. The award was in recognition of Hydro Ottawa’s 2011 customer experience self-serve program.

HazloLaw founder and managing partner Hugues Boisvert was selected as a Global Shaper 2011 by the World Economic Forum.
