Mitel has appointed Martyn Etherington as chief marketing officer.

Brigitte LeBlanc-Lapointe has joined LaBarge Weinstein LLP as an associate in its corporate, commercial and securities group. Ms. LeBlanc-Lapointe most recently worked for Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York City.

Emily Juneau has joined PureLogic IT Solutions as a sales representative. Prior to joining PureLogic, Ms. Juneau was a sales information specialist at Hewlett-Packard.

Terry Cairns has joined Empowered Networks as vice-president and leader of the company’s new Canadian health-care initiative. Mr. Cairns is the former chief information officer of Canadian Blood Services.

Peter W. Currie has joined the Kemptville District Hospital’s board of directors. Mr. Currie’s past experience includes terms as chief financial officer of Nortel Networks Corp. and the Royal Bank of Canada.

HATS OFF

DW Product Development Inc. has won a Gold 2012 IDSA International Design Excellence Award for its design of eco-friendly moulded paper packaging solution for liquids.

Mitel has won the PilotHouse Market Challenger award for IP telephony products, awarded by Nemertes Research.

Adam Chowaniec, the founding chairman of Startup Canada and former chairman of Zarlink, was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for his service in advancing entrepreneurship in Canada.
