PEOPLE ON THE MOVE

Duncan Ault and Luda Monczak have joined Borden Ladner Gervais LLP as associates. Mr. Ault was previously with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP in Toronto, while Ms. Monczak was previously an articling student at Gowling Lafleur Henderson in Ottawa.

LaBarge Weinstein LLP has appointed John Rick to lead the firm’s real estate and debt financing group. Mr. Rick previously operated his own practice for 19 years.

Commercial litigator Mark Gallagher and employment lawyer Sean Bawden have joined Kelly Santini. Mr. Gallagher was previously with a firm in Vancouver, while Mr. Bawden was previously with Beament Green in Ottawa.

 

HATS OFF

Valerie Ventola, owner of The Cuckoo’s Nest gift store in Westboro, has won the Ambassador Award for community service from the Retail Council of Canada.

Richard MacNeill, co-founder and president of Otus Group, and Suzan Unitt, chief financial officer and general manager at Erskine Dredge and Associates Architect Inc., have been named fellows of The Society of Certified Management Accountants of Canada.

Bayshore Shopping Centre won a silver award for new media and emerging technology in the International Council of Shopping Centres’ Canadian Shopping Centre Global Awards program.

Kichessipi Beer Co. took home gold and bronze medals in the 2012 World Beer Championships in Chicago in October. Kichessipi’s “1875” won the gold medal, and Natural Blonde took the bronze in the golden ale category.
