Carole Anne Piccinin has been appointed as executive director of Ottawa Festivals. Ms. Piccinin has more than 20 years’ experience in arts and culture leadership.
Anthony P. Sheehan has joined Soshal as a vice-president. Mr. Sheehan was formerly the director of consulting services at Macadamian Technologies.
The Ottawa International Airport Authority has been awarded two medals through the Airports Council International customer satisfaction benchmarking program for 2013. Ottawa finished with a silver medal for North America, and a bronze medal for airports that serve two to five million passengers per year internationally.
The West Ottawa Board of Trade recently handed out its People’s Choice Business Awards. The Carp Farmers’ Market, Saunders Farm and Brookstreet Hotel were named Tourism Businesses of the Year. The Retail Business of Year awards were given to Browns Your Independent Grocer and Grace in the Kitchen. The Cheshire Cat Pub, the Glen Scottish Restaurant & Pub and Poco Pazzo were honoured as Restaurants of the Year. Yoga & Tea Studio, Spotlight Hair Studio & Spa and Free Form Fitness were recognized as Health and Wellness Businesses of the Year. Creekside Gardens and Dog Dayz Dog Care & Training were named New Businesses of the Year. The Professional Services Business of the Year award went to McAuley Financial Services, while the West Carleton School of Performing Arts, Gaia Java and AAA Kavtech Automotive were all named Small Businesses of the Year. The Bridlewood Tim Hortons was recognized as Medium Business of the Year while Large Business of the Year went to Costco Wholesale.
