The firm announced last week it has started prospecting and exploration work on five sites it acquired between April 2012 and March 2013.

The closest to Ottawa is a 900-hectare site in Buckingham, Que., just east of Gatineau. Other sites are close to Maniwaki and Mont-Laurier.

The company is currently taking several samples from the sites and will then ship them to a laboratory in Val d’Or.

Peter Swistak, the firm’s president, did not return numerous phone calls requesting more details about what the developments would mean for the Ottawa economy.
