The professional basketball experiment in Ottawa has ended after one season, but the National Basketball League of Canada says it hasn’t given up on the capital.

The league issued a statement saying its board of governors voted unanimously to kick Bytown Sports and Entertainment Inc,. out of the league for “failure to adhere to league standards as set out in the operating agreement, and deadlines set forth to prepare for the season.”
"Consistency across the league is our goal, and all teams are required to meet certain requirements to protect the quality of league operations going forward," NBL Canada commissioner Paul Riley said in the statement. "We thank the fans of the SkyHawks in Ottawa for their support last season, and we assure you we are committed to returning as soon as possible.
The Skyhawks will comment on the decision Aug. 5.
