Local food providers will honour Savour Ottawa's receipt of Ontario Tourism's Culinary Tourism Leadership Award, among other things, at a trade show and networking summit Monday.
Hundreds of attendees at the National Arts Centre are expected to discuss the addition of seven new retail members and Savour Ottawa's promotion campaign.
"The initiative began as a small meeting and in four short years has emerged as a leader in the province. This is due entirely to the membership and their wholehearted embrace of the initiative and its goals," stated Savour Ottawa co-ordinator Heather Hossie.
"We won this award in part because of its exuberance in sharing experiences, knowledge and expertise with other regions in the province – and we very much look forward to continue building those networks so that together we can build a stronger local food system and delicious regional culinary tourism.”
Mayor Jim Watson will address the crowd gathered at the National Arts Centre Monday afternoon.
Savour Ottawa is a joint initiative to promote local food, with major partners including Ottawa Tourism, Just Food and the City of Ottawa.
