We do not need another downtown casino. We already have one in the Capital and adding another will simply bleed our downtown businesses dry. Casino patrons and tourists do not care if the casino is across the river from downtown. If OLG wants to put a new casino in Ottawa, the only place that makes some sense is at the RCR. With plans to move the CCE across the street from the RCR, the area can be redeveloped as an entertainment-gaming-amusement centre for the whole region, giving its patrons a combination of activities to partake in, which would appeal to a broader audience than if it were just another downtown casino.

Well, if Ottawa is going to do this, we've got to go big or don't bother. I'll take Lac Leamy and its world class hotel over RC any second of the day; and if it is not centralized then its got to be the next best place where activity levels are high for other mega-activities and I doubt the Glebe wants a casino incorporated into their neighbourhood as well . . . hmm . . . 700,000 square feet of Ottawa's first Outlet Mall, ScotiaBank Place, parking . . . where's Melnyk with his proposal?
