John Jarvis has been the general manager of the Westin Ottawa since 1998.

He has won several awards for his work during that time. In March he was named Chief Sales Officer of the Year for 2012 by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, which owns the Westin brand.

He also sits on the board of directors of Ottawa Tourism and was the first chair of the Christmas Cheer Foundation.

Mr. Jarvis has not revealed the extent of his future business plans other than to say that it will involve going into business with his wife, Fran Gagnon.

Ms. Gagnon is currently the executive director at The Society for Educational Visits and Exchanges in Canada.

The new business will be based in Ottawa.

Mr. Jarvis did not return phone calls requesting an interview on Friday.
