Ottawa airport comes second in North America for customer service

Only one other airport in North America has better service than Ottawa’s, according to the Airports Council International.

The Ottawa International Airport Authority received two Airport Service Quality Awards, the group announced on Wednesday.

The Ottawa airport came in second in North America, ranking only behind Indianapolis. For airports that serve between two and five million passengers a year, Ottawa was ranked third in the world.

In that category, it was beaten by Changchun Airport in China and Guayaquil Airport in Ecuador.

The only other Canadian airport to win an award was the Stanfield International Airport in Halifax, which ranked fourth in the two to five million passenger category.

Ottawa was ranked in the same position for both categories last year.

“Everyone puts a lot of heart into the customer experience,” said Mark Laroche, the president and CEO of the airport authority, in a press release.

“I am very proud of these results, especially considering the number of weather-related irregular operations we experienced during the year, and how the team rallied together to help our passengers and visitors.”

The awards are based on surveys conducted at the airport’s departure gate.
