Ottawa’s largest hotel has recruited its new general manager from a far warmer climate down south.

The Westin Ottawa is located on Colonel By Drive.

Ross Meredith, a hospitality veteran who has served previous stints within the chain, is set to take over as the general manager of the Westin Ottawa during the first week of March.

Mr. Meredith comes to the position from the Westin in Palm Springs, California but is originally a Canadian, said Justyna Baraniecki, a marketing official at the Westin Ottawa.

He started at that resort in April 2011 after previously spending time at the Westin in Calgary, she said.

Mr. Meredith replaces John Jarvis, who announced late last year he was going to be stepping down from the role to start his own business. He had been in the position since 1998.

The Westin is the largest hotel in Ottawa by number of hotel rooms, according to OBJ research. It had 496 guest rooms and 380 employees as of last January.
