“Over the years we’ve proven that we know how to make speciality collections that generate excitement,” said Mr. Budman. “We hope to get tremendously celebrated Canadians to wear the products.”

On Thursday, special red scarves and toques were unveiled at the Rideau Centre Roots location along with 2017-branded jackets and a leather bag.

The full product line, which will be revealed Fall 2016, will include blankets, leather goods, accessories and apparel. The line will be sold across Canada and in some Asian stores including Beijing.

A portion of the proceeds from sales will go back into 2017 festivities. Roots will undertake a promotional campaign to advertise the products and promote Ottawa 2017.

Roots has previously partnered with the Olympic teams, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Toronto Blue Jays and the Trans Canada Trail on special clothing lines.
