The $3.7 million contract runs for an initial 15 month period with an option to renew the service for an additional two years. The second portion of the comntract could be worth $4.7 million.
Under the terms of the contract, IDC will provide broadcast services from its Ottawa facilities to Canadian peacekeeping missions overseas via satellite.
IDC produces advanced satellite communications products with more than 25,000 installations in 35 countries worldwide. Current applications for its products include Internet via satellite, corporate intranets, distance education networks, radio networks, business radio networks, weather networks, financial information, paging networks and email transmission.
