Denver-based J.D. Edwards said the exposure to come from this three-year agreement could increase its revenue by as much as 10% a year. It posted revenue of about US$1 billion last year.
J.D. Edwards joins a number of other software companies that IBM has signed strategic deals with in an effort to keep customers from moving to hardware made by rivals such as Sun Microsystems Inc.
As part of the deal, J.D. Edward will develop its programs based on IBM hardware and database platforms. And IBM will offer the companies' combined products to a wide range of customers, via IBM's global sales force.
