Mixed-signal semiconductor firm Integrated Device Technology is closing its Kanata office, a move that will affect 21 positions in Ottawa, a company official said.
"We will be closing our office in Ottawa due to a decision by IDT to cease investing in new product development for its networking division," said Sab Ventola, IDT's vice-president of engineering in the networking division, in an e-mailed response to questions.
He added that the networking division would continue operating and supporting existing products out of the company's head office in San Jose, Calif.
IDT Canada Inc. is a subsidiary of Integrated Device Technology, a semiconductor company that develops content inspection engines for intelligent packet processing in high-speed communications networks, according to OCRI (the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation).
IDT was founded in 1980 and employs approximately 2,400 people worldwide, according to the company's website.
