The value of local construction permits was down $39.3 million year-over-year in April.

The city issued 629 permits with a combined value of $115 million, down from 666 permits valued at $154.3 million a year earlier.

This comes after the sector recorded its best first quarter in at least four years during the first three months of 2012.

The two most valuable contracts included the superstructure of The Ravines Seniors' Suites and Retirement Residence, an eight-storey complex being built by Ashcroft Homes for $17.8 million, and the superstructure of One3One, an eight-storey condo building by Domicile Construction for $11.4 million.

The list also includes 16 permits issued to Minto Communities Inc. to build a series of three-storey stacked rowhouses on Chapman Mills Drive. Each permit is valued at $1.45 million but they are not listed below due to space considerations.
