Construction permits fall 35%

The value of construction permits fell almost 35 per cent, or $75.5 million, year-over-year in September, according to municipal records.

The city issued 837 permits with a combined value of $137.83 million, compared to 749 permits with a total value of $213.37 million a year earlier.

Three permits at 1929 Ogilvie Rd. alone made up nearly $13 million of the construction activity approved in September. There also were alterations permits issued for three buildings in the parliamentary precinct: the Wellington Building, the East Block and the C.D. Howe Building.
