Developer Codeau Building Ltd. is asking the city to change the zoning for a property on Rideau Street so it can build a 16-storey condominium tower.

Codeau Building is asking for a zoning change to make way for its proposed development at 541 Rideau St.

The proposed development, at the corner of Rideau Street and Cobourg Street, would have 100 condo units.

It would also have several commercial units on the first two floors, with 600 square feet of office space, about 1,300 square feet of retail and around 1,500 square feet of restaurant space.

The proposal also calls for three storeys of underground parking, with 78 spaces.

The property’s current zoning allows for a maximum building height of 62 feet, while the proposed development would be 167 feet high. The developer is also asking for an increase to the maximum floor area allowed for buildings on the site.

The site is currently home to a 2.5-storey building that was used as a restaurant.

Looks as if it would be a beautiful building and it would improve that area a lot.
