The Ottawa-based company said Pinpoint Network Solutions will use the solution to expand that portion of its network from 300 miles to more than 1,000 miles, as well as to support new services including high-speed Ethernet and video.
Pinpoint, which provides long-haul and local access for customers such as large-volume financial institutions and high-bandwidth enterprise customers, is working with BTI’s “virtual fibre” single packet optical platform to increase the capacity of its existing fibre infrastructure to an initial speed of 80 gigabits per second, with the ability to double network capacity incrementally as needed.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
