Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) will add 300 jobs in Ontario, including at its Ottawa research and development facility.

Cisco , Ontario , Ottawa

The San Jose, Calif.-based networking gear maker is receiving support from the province for the expansion, but no dollar figure was disclosed in a government news release.

Cisco and the province also signed a memorandum of understanding concerning job growth, and increasing research, development and productivity.

"There is enormous potential to build a solid R&D spring board in Ontario," said Cisco Canada president Nitin Kawale in a statement.

The company has both a sales office and a research development centre in Ottawa, with 400 employees between the two facilities.

Cisco has been streamlining some of its global operations as its earnings have been falling in recent quarters.
