The San Jose, Calif.-based networking gear maker is receiving support from the province for the expansion, but no dollar figure was disclosed in a government news release.
Cisco and the province also signed a memorandum of understanding concerning job growth, and increasing research, development and productivity.
"There is enormous potential to build a solid R&D spring board in Ontario," said Cisco Canada president Nitin Kawale in a statement.
The company has both a sales office and a research development centre in Ottawa, with 400 employees between the two facilities.
Cisco has been streamlining some of its global operations as its earnings have been falling in recent quarters.
