The California-based company was formerly headquartered in Ottawa as JDS Uniphase, and still has a significant local presence.
JDSU previously lowered its Q2 guidance due to Thailand flooding.
In a statement Monday, JDSU chief executive Tom Waechter said the quarter had surpassed company expectations.
"The outstanding efforts of our team and our manufacturing partner in Thailand, coupled with our continued focus on expense control, resulted in revenue and operating income that exceeded our guidance," he stated.
"Our balance sheet remains strong and we generated over $45 million of cash from operations during the quarter."
The firm forecasts non-GAAP net revenue of $410 million to $425 million in the coming quarter.
