Earlier in the year, Acquity won partner of the year for its work in selling Adobe's products to several Fortune 500 companies and for promoting Adobe's web content management system for the past decade.
Adobe has about 300 local employees, according to Ottawa Technology magazine, but recently underwent a reduction of its local workforce by 100 positions. Acquity also has ties to a Montreal company, hybris, that it is hoping to deepen through the office in the capital.
"With a booming technology sector and broad network of strategic partners located in Canada, establishing a physical presence in this market was a natural progression in our expansion," stated Chris Dalton, CEO of Acquity Group's U.S. operations.
The number of people employed in the Ottawa office, which is at 343 Preston St., was not disclosed in a press release. A spokesperson noted the company is in a quiet phase and cannot share details of the office size or hiring plans at this time.
Acquity also recently opened up offices in San Francisco and Seattle. It now has 11 offices in North America.
In late April, Acquity did an initial public offering of American depository shares. Late morning Monday, Acquity's shares were trading on the NYSE AMEX just under the US$6 initially set in the IPO.
