The expansion includes a couple of executive appointments. Gregg Kitaeff, former vice-president of sales at LogicWorks, will be managing director of United States sales. Ben Friedman will be director of U.S. sales.
Already existing clients in the area include FreshDirect, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, LinkShare Corporation and CrowdTwist.
"New York represents well over 30 per cent of our revenue and has the largest concentration of clients and industry contacts," stated Paul Vallée, Pythian's founder and executive chair. "It makes good strategic sense for us to grow our base here."
The firm has doubled its workforce since 2010 on the back of more demand in database and systems administration expertise, and has 175 clients spanning North America, Europe and the Asia-Pacific area.
Pythian was #171 on the 2011 Profit 200 list of the fastest-growing companies across the country. Mr. Vallée is also a past OBJ/Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Forty Under 40 winner.
