FileTrek Inc. has signed its first distribution deal outside of North America. The file sharing and product collaboration firm announced that Empowered Technology will provide distribution in Europe, which is intended to grow FileTrek's presence on the continent. Terms of the contract were not released. FileTrek is based in Los Angeles and has an Ottawa office.
Anystone Technologies Inc. became one of the top 25 highest grossing iPad music apps in the Canadian Apple app store with the release of its third iteration of Anytune, allowing musicians to slow down music tempos.
Mitel Networks Corp. (TSX:MITL) and VirnetX have settled a patent infringement dispute. VirnetX agreed to a patent licensing agreement with Mitel for mostly undisclosed terms. Mitel will give a one-time payment to VirnetX for licensing "certain of its patents" and "an ongoing reasonable royalty" for sales arising through expiring licensed patents. VirnetX is a patent licenser, domain registrar and software development kit licenser.
Sierra Systems Group Inc. has signed a $1.93 million deal with the Department of National Defence. Sierra will assist DND with centralizing its enterprise information technology service management services. While the tender on procurement site Merx did not specify what sort of contracting vehicle would be used, it noted the services would be used on an "as and when requested" basis. The contract will be for a year with the option to extend for three one-year periods.
