MacroSolve named TrueContext in an omnibus lawsuit in 2011 concerning U.S. Patent No. 7,822,816, which it called a “significant IP asset” for the company. TrueContext was accused of using mobile information collection technology without permission.
Nineteen other companies were accused in the initial lawsuit; TrueContext did not disclose the status of the other claims.
"We are pleased with this reasonable development with MacroSolve. We respect the legitimate intellectual property of others, as we expect others to respect our extensive intellectual property portfolio," stated TrueContext CEO Alvaro Pombo.
"TrueContext's foundation is based on innovation and we are confident that our intellectual property strategies and practices … will continue to grow and protect our product concepts and innovations to excel in today's competitive mobility environment."
In its last quarterly results, TrueContext saw its revenue jump 75 per cent year-over-year on the back of more customers.
