“That’s a lot of zeros, and a huge achievement for all of our store owners,” stated CEO Tobias Lütke.

He noted the platform has more than 35,000 active stores in nearly 100 countries, and that 13 million orders have been processed since Shopify’s launch six years ago.

Last week, Shopify announced it is working with Canada Post to develop a free app targeted at customers. The app allows users to print shipping labels, and also obtain shipping rates.

This year, the e-commerce firm took over Select Start Studios for an undisclosed amount.

Business done by Shopify stores increased by 220 per cent year-over-year in 2011.

and how much profit has Shopify generated in the last year? Nice to see their customers are doing well.. but how does this translate to success for shopify? What if shopify has been loosing money on some of the shops? Does this include free accounts? Lots of online sales have increased over the last year, so it makes no business sense to use this as a gage for shopify's success... I hear they had to get millions in funding to get off the ground, they don't show a profit yet, and now will be riding taxpayers by 'partnering' with canada post... why is canada post in the online shopping business again, and why are taxpayers helping shopify? I thought they were a huge capitalist success...
