IDC, Roaring Penguin Software and WiLAN among local firms doing deals.

International Datacasting Corp. is helping a leading European digital cinema distributor to expand its network, with a contract valued at more than $650,000. The unnamed distributor will use IDC’s technology to distribute digital movie content and live event content via satellite to cinemas across Europe in both 2D and 3D formats. This will satisfy consumer demand to watch cultural and sporting events live in theatres, according to a company release.
IDC was also awarded a contract valued in excess of $600,000 to help expand the network of an unnamed North American video content distributor. IDC’s SuperFlex Pro Data solution will allow the distributor to reliably and securely deliver file-based programming to a large and geographically dispersed network of remote sites.
One of New Zealand’s largest commercial Internet service providers has chosen Roaring Penguin Software to combat spam on its network. The local email filtering company will deliver its technology that stops spam before it reaches the network to New Zealand’s Orcan.
Local patent licensing firm WiLAN has signed a multi-year running royalty license agreement with Alpha Networks Inc. The agreement includes certain technologies in Alpha Networks’ digital television and display patent portfolio.
