Calian wins $11-million oil sands health services contract

Calian Technologies announced late Monday it has been awarded a five-year contract worth $11 million to provide nursing services to a major mining project in the oil sands of Western Canada.

Calian will provide services for both occupational and non-occupational needs of the project, which employs more than 5,000 people, supporting its 24-hour, seven-day-a-week medical centre.

“We were pleased to have been chosen as the successful bidder and to add this major oil sands company to our growing list of health customers,” Calian’s vice-president of health services, Scott Murray, said in a statement.
